Cullinane College New Zealand Seeks Agent Partnerships

cullinane

Cullinane College is an integrated, Co-Educational Secondary school in Wanganui, New Zealand for students in Year 9 to Year 13.

Cullinane College was founded in 2003, through the combining of Sacred Heart College (founded in 1880 and operated by the Sisters of St Joseph of Nazareth) and St Augustines College (founded in 1944 and operated by the priests and brothers of the Society of Mary).

The college is named after: Sister Vincent Cullinane RSJ and Sister Cuthbert Cullinane RSJ (both important teachers at Sacred Heart College); Father John Cullinane SM (an important teacher at St Augustine’s College); and Bishop Peter James Cullinane, first Bishop of Palmerston North (1980-2012). The Bishop of Palmerston North is the proprietor of the college.

Cullinane College’s campus

Cullinane College’s campus is located at the base of St John’s Hill in Whanganui. Our extensive site is situated between two community parks on Peat Street.

Cullinane College’s geographical location is upon the former St Augustine campus. Physically, Cullinane College boasts several of the best educational facilities in the region. Significant capital investments over recent years have resulted in new classrooms across most curriculum. In the last couple of years, Cullinane College has opened new:

  • A Wharenui

  • Two toilet blocks

  • An Information and Communication Technology
    classroom

  • A Commerce classroom

  • A Music room

  • Recording studios (and band rooms)

  • A Drama and Dance suite.

Currently, Cullinane College is undertaking significant redevelopment to refurbish other existing classrooms. The completion of this project will bring all of our campus up to new earthquake standards.

Special Character curriculum is based around our historical St Joseph’s Chapel.

Cullinane College also hosts on site a satellite classroom for Arahunga Special School.

International Students

The only requirement for international students is that they must have a minimum of lower intermediate English. We work with each student to help them gain the qualifications they need. As a small College, our International students are fully integrated with New Zealand students. This helps everybody to become fluent in speaking, reading and writing English.

We want the parents of our international students to be involved in the education of their young people, so we will send regular reports on their progress. Cullinane College offers a number of fantastic opportunities for our students to experience a great deal of New Zealand. Our students can take part in a variety of activities that allow them to increase their awareness of our unique Kiwi culture.

A great deal of the opportunities involve experiencing New Zealand’s outdoor lifestyle. Members of our staff enjoy this lifestyle themselves and bring their expertise to our students through trips ranging from bush tramps to skiing on Mt Ruapehu.

Our students also have the opportunity, if they choose, to experience the extreme sports for which New Zealand is world renowned. The opportunities at Cullinane College are not just limited to the outdoor lifestyle either. Many of our students have the chance to visit national museums, the New Zealand Government buildings in Wellington and have an overnight excursion to the Wellington Zoo.

Opportunities are limitless as our staff and wider community support our students both inside and outside the classroom. Our Homestay families have extended the classroom experiences for their students by taking them on family trips across the North Island and the South Island in order to give your students the best possible experience of New Zealand.
